Safely getting on roof and back on ladder.
Never step over the top rung or attempt to go down with your back to the ladder.
Choose the right ladder for the job when you work on the roof if you want to avoid a potential trip to the emergency room later.
The angle of ladder should be 4 in 1 that is for every 4m you go up you come out 1m from gutter line.
You have to place it under the leg on the ladder which is on the lower side of the roof.
Hold the ladder securely with both hands and swing one leg around to step off onto the roof.

Remember it should extend at least 3 feet above the roof s edge.
How to safely use ladders on a roof.
However this three feet of ladder sometimes poses a problem because people getting onto or off of the ladder at the top have to work their way around the ladder itself.
This will reduce the risk of your ladder slipping and you falling off your roof and getting injured.
This allows you to have the rails within reach so you can hold on to them and have a rung very close to the edge of the roof as you transition between the ladder and roof and back again.
Having it extend any more or less can lead to the ladder slipping from the roof or the operator having difficulty getting onto the roof.
So your ladder will not be slanted anymore.
What this will do is elevate the leg up to the same level as the other one.
When you get off the roof take the same approach holding onto the ladder and stepping around it instead of over the top.
Instead hold onto the ladder with both hands and step around the ladder and onto the roof.
To get back onto the ladder hold it and swing a leg onto the rung while facing the roof.
All ladders are not created equal.
To access a roof you ll need an extension ladder.
This three foot rule gives a person descending the ladder from the higher level something to grab on to as they climb on without having to lean over at the edge of the roof.
